Postage Stamps...

I realize that this is going to be my very first blog...ever! My topic is rather simple and I guess I could have chose a more in depth topic for my first blog but in any case I would like to chat about stamps!

My son's first birthday is coming up around the corner, March 17, and my husband and I are planning a birthday bash of Elmo's, balloons, and pinatas..the she-bang if you will...and I have to mail the invitations to everyone back home. So I go to the post office thinking stamps couldn't possibly be more than 17 cents. I wait patiently in line, keeping Wes entertained by making silly faces and find it humorous that my own face can cause so much laughter, in any event it is our turn. I ask for 24 stamps and the nice mail lady says, " 10.50 please.." I think she might have thought that I didn't hear her because she repeated herself one more time. I was like, "huh?" I gave her the $10.50 (or something like that) and put my stamps on the invitations and mailed them.

I wrestled with Wes to get into his car seat and all the while I couldn't get over how much it cost to send a stinkin letter! Insane. .42 cents for a letter? Geez, where have I been. I asked Wil when it had gone up and relayed my exasperation at how much it cost to send a letter and he said that is has been "32 cents forever!" and I had to correct him! It was not .32 cents but .42 cents. I guess I am silly for overreacting at the cost of postage stamp, but really. That is almost 50 cents to send ONE letter.

Anyhow, that was my thoughts on the cost of a postage stamp. Oh, and P.S. this blogging thing, might be the coolest thing ever. It's almost like a virtual diary, but censored in sorts.
